Spiced Pecans

Spiced pecans make a wonderful addition to salads. Try out this combination: pecans, dried cranberries, feta cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette over mixed greens.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp Chinese 5 spice powder (Wholefoods)
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp grated black pepper
- 4 cups pecan halves
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2
Butter 1 or 2 baking sheets.
Step 3
Melt butter over medium heat.
Step 4
Add sugar, water, salt, and spices to butter. Stir until sugar dissolves.
Step 5
Add nuts to sugar mix and cook until syrup thickly coats nuts, stirring frequently for about 5 minutes.
Step 6
Transfer nuts to baking sheet and bake until golden- about 10 minutes.
Step 7
Cool.
